The purpose of the Western Indigenous Artists Network (WIAN) is to provide an e-community and support for Northwest Native art and artists. Participation in the arts is a vital link between generations. WIAN increases accessibility for cultural wisdom keepers and artists in under-served native populations and provides an efficient network for increasing both marketability and understanding of their work. There is knowledge preserved in the traditional arts and innovation in contemporary mediums. Indigenous art invigorates cultural life of tribal communities and encourages healthy communities. The three primary objectives of this network are to 1) increase the ability of native artists to sell their work, 2) create a forum for sharing ideas and knowledge, and 3) educate the public about native art and culture.
