The Whole Watershed Restoration Initiative (WWRI) has been funding salmon habitat restoration projects in Oregon, Washington and Idaho since 2007. Pooled state and federal resources are targeted to Priority Basins and Focus Watersheds that have the highest ecological values and potential responsiveness to restoration efforts. This map shows you where WWRI projects are taking place, and provides brief project descriptions of the great work our community partners are doing.
Projects range from removal of fish barriers to beaver reintroduction, and take place on public and private lands across many habitat types. Some projects are in progress, others are completed, and more are getting underway every year. We have identified the lead grantee organizations and have categorized projects by dominant project type, such as “Riparian Restoration,” but the truth is that most projects include a wide variety of activities carried out by many partners over several years.
This map was developed using open source software and all project, basin and watershed data layers can be downloaded from the “Source” button.
